“Equality is about ensuring that every human has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents, if we learned to respect others’ lives as our own it would be a start…”

What are the go-to snacks you like to eat?

I’m a big snacks person, anything from homemade lunchable snacks to green apples and frozen bananas with chocolate… there are too many to pick one.

Do you brush your teeth when you wake up or after eating breakfast?

Celery juice and coffee first thing followed by brushing my teeth

Do you wet your toothbrush before or after you apply toothpaste?

What monster out there does not wet before and after?

Favourite Restaurant in Toronto?

Not sure I can only pick one, we all know Toronto is home to some amazing food but I recently ate at Bernhardts on Dovercourt and it was delish. When all else fails, 416 Snack Bar on a Sunday for the mini mac is life

What does equality mean to you?

Equality is about ensuring that every human no matter their race, religion or orientation has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents, if we learned to respect others’ lives as our own it would be a great start. The fact that police are comfortable to shoot a black man in broad daylight in front of his children during the BLM movement knowing the world is watching shows just how much work needs to be done.  Basic human rights for all is what equality looks like for me.

It’s 2020, what does this decade look like to you?

I think 2020 has shown us, if anything that nothing is guaranteed. We have to be agile and pivot no matter what comes our way. Being more humane and taking the time to be kind not only to ourselves but strangers.

What’s the last item you purchased with cash?

People use cash? Since COVID I don’t think I’ve seen actual money.

What does retirement look like to you?

Honestly, I can’t really imagine past COVID, Black Lives Matter, and our current day-to-day.  If I try to think objectively, though, I would say I’d like to spend as much time re-grounding with nature as possible and spending time with loved ones .

Who made the best ‘Sunday Morning’ song A) k-os B) No Doubt or C) Maroon 5?

This must be a trick question, I have to go with No Doubt because I had the tape (revealing my age) and played Tragic Kingdom all the time. But (k-os) Kev is a dear friend and basically a Canadian treasure, so can I say a tie? Maroon 5 is an outright no.

What skill are you determined to master?

Meditation at night without falling asleep

Do you believe there is a way to turn your passions in to work, and if so, how?

I recently learnt the concept called Ikigai,  it’s a Japanese term that roughly translates to “reason for being” The word refers to having a direction or purpose in life, that which makes one's life worthwhile. It's feeling that your life is valuable, that you have an impact. I believe if you’re passionate about anything you could turn it profitable.

Where is your happy place?

Hands down nature, hiking in the mountain or a sunset on the beach. (original I’m aware)

What three words would you use to describe your past three months of your life?

Zoom, do better and love

What’s your favourite book or author?

Shantaram was great, I really enjoy Esther Perel’s books and podcasts.

Name something you couldn’t go a day without. Why?

Coffee and mediation... I’m not great at following rules, will not just pick one.

Dogs or Cats?

This can’t be a real question. Dogs all the way!

Who is your role model and why?

All the women who have paved the way for me, unknowingly or throughout my career because without them being called bossy, pushy, outspoken or too emotional I wouldn't be in the position or hold the space I do today. I'm grateful every day to have so many intelligent and badass humans around that are game-changers.
